Abstract

Muslim Arts were influenced by the other nations' arts, especially those newly converted to the new faith of Islam. Muslims quoted new and useful trends that enhanced the Islamic features of their cultural identity along with their traditions. Therefore, the formation of new architectural elements, and the invention of new technical vocabulary are significant in the art of the Islamic cities. The civilizations of ancient Mesopotamia inspired Muslim artists, who made buildings with huge external walls decorated with a variety of decorations and architectural elements. This article is going to analyze the influences created by the Persian culture on the Islamic architecture build during the Abbasid period through selected examples.
