Abstract

This study aims to exhibit the level of knowledge of a group of students - chosen by sampling method - via the drawing method, regarding the sections of the flower. The comprehension of the sections of the flower, which holds an importance place in science, plays a significant role in the understanding of some other related topics. In the study, 25 6th grade students were chosen as the main body. The students were asked to express the flower sections by drawing. In order to enable the free expression of students’ knowledge in this issue, no template was asserted and an environment was provided where every type of drawing could be performed freely. 30 minutes were given to the students for this application. The students’ lack of perception and error in basic concepts, create some negativity regarding the acquisition of basic behaviours needed for the obtaining and transfer of knowledge. In this study, perception and level of knowledge regarding the flower sections were assessed by the drawing method. Consequently, it was seen that the majority of students are considerably insufficient and have conceptual errors.
