Abstract

Personality traits of the firm owner appear in the export decision models as variables directly affecting export behaviour. From this point of view, this study aims to investigate the effects of tolerance of ambiguity (TA) on export decision. Budner's (1962) TA scale was used to measure TA levels of 246 firms. 8,5% of the firms received high, 50% of the firms received neutral and %41,5 of the firms received low TA levels. Mean of the sample is 47,89 (SD=3,54). Mann-Whitney U test results indicate that mean ranks for the exporting firms and non-exporting firms do not differ significantly from each other on TA (U=7285,00 p=,620). A Spearman's correlation (rs) was run to determine relationship between TA score and other 21 variables; there was no statistically significant relationship detected (p>,01).
