Abstract

This research aims to identify the ways in which the literature based films are used as a material in Turkish Language and Literature classes. In order to shed a light on the further practical studies regarding the use of cinema films in the class, it is important to identify teachers’ interests, perceptions and attitudes towards the subject. The method used in the research is a case study. The samples of the study consist of purposefully selected teachers who have’t got pedagogy education and currently work in İstanbul. The findings of the research have been interpreted under the following subtitles: (1) Teachers’ educational background regarding the use of films as audio-visual materials in the class, (2) In which classes and how often the teachers use films, (3) The ways the teachers use films in the class.
