THE EFFECTS OF CORPORATE GOVERNANCE ON TECHNICAL EFFICIENCY: AN APPLICATION IN FIRMS ON BIST CORPORATE GOVERNANCE INDEX KURUMSAL YÖNETİMİN TEKNİK ETKİNLİK ÜZERİNDEKİ ETKİSİ: BİST KURUMSAL YÖNETİM ENDEKSİNDE YER ALAN FİRMALARDA BİR UYGULAMA
This study examines the technical efficiency values of the firms listed on the Borsa Istanbul in 2009-2016 and aims to determine the effect of the firms on the technical efficiency points of whether or not they are included on the Borsa Istanbul Corporate Governance Index. Data envelopment analysis, one of the nonparametric linear programming methods, has been used to measure the technical efficiency. In this study, the total efficiency values for each year were firstly calculated and the Malmquist Index was measured for comparison in the time dimension, as a result, it has been determined that the technical efficiency of the firms applied corporate governance principles and included on the Borsa Istanbul Corporate Governance Index is higher.
