Abstract

Many Turkish writers have taken an interest in the city of Jeusalem in their writings. In particular, this paper deals with Turkish poets such as Nuri Pakdil who looks at Jeusalem in a way that is tinged with both hope and sorrow. Such poetry dwells on the fact that Jerusalem before the Israeli occupation was a center for tolerance and coexistence and shows belief in the possibility of the revival of that multicultural scene. On the other hand, this study touches on Jerusalemites’ interest in Turkish literature, as many bookstores in Jeusalem bear witness.
