Abstract

The aim of the research is to determine the level of utılity of metacognitive reading strategies by Turkish as foreign language teachers and to determine whether the level of the use of metacognitive reading strategies by Turkish as foreign language teachers is influenced by various variables. The study is a descriptive study in the survey model. The working group of the study consists of 88 people who teach Turkish as foreign language in Aydın TÖMER, Yunus Emre Institute, MONE and Private Language Courses. " Metacognıtıve Readıng Strategıes Utılıty Scale" developed by Özen and Durkan (2016) was used as data collection tool in the study. As a result of the studies made, the participants' level of using metacognitive reading strategies was "high" level; It has been determined that the level of utility metacognitive reading strategies of Turkish as a foreign language teachers and the relation of gender, professional experience, institution studied, and the graduated program were not found. In addition to this result, it has been determined that the teachers who teach Turkish as a foreign language are consciously influenced by the utility of metacognitive reading strategies at the level of using metacognitive reading strategies.
