Abstract

Hunger is a condition in which humans fail to have access to food. The biggest achievement of modernity is that it put to a large extent an end to the imminent danger of hunger and famine for human beings. However, hunger is around especially during and in the aftermath of a war along with the disruption of economic and political order. Moreover, repressive domestic societal regulations of authoritarian regimes may also lead to starvation of the people. There is an era in which hunger became widespread due to the two great wars of the 20th century and civil wars. People could assume a mood leading them to eat the food that they wouldn’t do otherwise. Yet the most extreme outcome of starvation is the incidents of cannibalism. That one human being can eat dead bodies or worse he or she can kill other humans to eat can be seen regardless of cultural factors in many places around the world as well as in our surrounding region.
