Abstract

This article approaches to evaluate some of the coins which found during the excavations in which were establishment of the Ottoman Beylik Eskişehir Karacahisar Fortress between 2011-2014. Karacahisar Fortress is a medieval castle located 7 km south west of city center, in a plateau at a height of 1010 meters on the edge of the Porsuk Stream. 244 coins were found in the excavations carried out between the years 2011-2014. When the coins was separated chronologicaly, 237 coins dated to Ottoman period and 5 coins dated to the Byzantine period. 2 silver and 10 copper coins are clearly readable. The chronological sequence of 12 coins support that the fortress was used through from Murad I to Fatih period.
