PERCEIVING OF SCIENCE TEACHERS WORKING AT PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SCHOOLS ON OPENNESS TO CHANGE LEVEL OF THEIR SCHOOLS

Abstract

In this research, it was aimed to examine differences between perceiving of Science teachers working at public and private schools on openness to change level of their schools. In the research, 317 science teachers working at private and public schools in Manisa under authority of National Education Ministry during 2016-2017 education year were subjected to survey. According to results, teachers’ openness to change factor was found to be significantly different based on experiment, graduation, importance of change and sufficiency of change groups (p<0,05). Managers’ openness to change factor was found to be significantly different based on gender, experiment, importance of change and sufficiency of change groups (p<0,05). Openness to change of school environment was found to be significantly different based on gender, experiment, graduation and importance of change groups (p<0,05). Teachers’ openness to change and managers’ openness to change levels were higher in private school, and openness to change of school environment was higher in public schools, and all three factors showed statistically significant differences (p<0,05).
