@article{2017,title={ARCHERY IN TURKISH CULTURAL LIFE},abstractNode={The aim of this research was to determine the place of arrow and bow in Turkish culture, and reflections of archery in Turkish cultural life. In order to reach this aim, the related literature was deeply scanned, and a reading list was prepared for close reading. This list was composed of various theses, articles, and books which included elements of archery or some variables of arrow and bow. The main contents of this research are the types of arrow and bow, their usages, the importance of archery in Turkish-Islamic societies and states, and more specifically in Ottoman Empire. In order to lighten these contents, this research was designed as a review article. As a conclusion of this research, it was pointed out that arrow and bow had a very central place in Turkish Cultural life, and was accepted as main instruments of moral education and self-discipline, and also a symbol of equality and brotherhood, rather than being simply a sports branch or a military element.},author={Gamze YÖNAL-- Mutlu TÜRKMEN},year={2017},journal={The Journal of Academic Social Science}}
