Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the relationship between perfectionism and religiosity. Within the scope of that, firstly the theoretical substructure of the subject was created, then the experiential data have been analyzed and evaluated. In order to collect data, the survey form consisting of Positive Negative Perfectionism Scale and Inner Religious Motivation Scale was applied to 392 university students. The findings of study have shown that there is a significant positive correlation between religiosity and not only positive also negative perfectionism, and religiosity has been predicted perfectionism positively and significantly. In addition, it has been revealed that levels perfectionism of the participans changed according to type of the faculty, the order of birth, and suicidal tendencies. Accordingly, the students of the Theology have a higher level of positive whereas the students of the Faculty of Medicine have a higher level of negative perfectionism than others. While there is no significant difference between positive perfectionism and the order of birth, the last and single child are the most negative perfectionists. Besides, those who don’t think about commiting suicide frequently have a higher level of positive, on the other hand who think about it too often have a higher level of negative perfectionism than others.
