Abstract

Bilecik is located at intersection of Marmara, Black Sea, Central Anatolia and Aegean Region. Bilecik is surrounded by Bolu and Eskişehir from the east. Kütahya surrounds Bilecik from South and Bursa from West. Also Bilecik is surrounded by Sakarya from North. Bilecik is one of the smallest city in Turkey with 4302 km² area. Bilecik is described as the 'City of Establishment and Salvation' due to its hosting of the Ottoman State and the Inönü Wars. Besides Bilecik is beginning to attract attention with its natural environmental resources, historical and cultural values. The Neo Ottoman movement has positively affected the tourism of Bilecik in recent times. The increase in the number of visitors to Bilecik is considered as the effect of the current usage of the historical values within the scope of the destination marketing. The aim of this study is to include natural, historical, cultural heritages and tourism substructure – superstructure about Bilecik to tourism literature. The other aim of study is making inventory of Bilecik tourism potential. End of the scanning literature and making observation, results show that Bilecik has substantial proportion of tourism potential.
