Abstract

Cemal Amca is a poem of Lütfî Şehsuvaroğlu. This poem is located in the poem book named Lâ Havle-Lütfî Divânı. Poem is a long Manzume (a different word for Poem) consisting of 13 chapters. Each stanza of the poem, consisting of 193 stanzas in total, made up from 5 verses. The poem is written with syllabic meter of 11. First three verses of the poem rhyme with each other, and the last two verses rhyme with each other as well. The poet made various explanations by providing 145 footnotes within the poem. Cemal Amca, from whom the poem was named after, was an existed person and the symbolic name of an period as well as being the uncle and the comrade of the pre-1980s idealist young generation. He passed away during 1980 revolution. Şehsuvaroğlu actually tried to explain the panorama of an period by addressing Cemal Amca. In the poem, the way values, relations, characters vanish off the face off the earth along with Cemal Amca is told. In this poem, Şehsuvaroğlu tried to explain his own intent didactically within a poem form.
