Abstract

This study aims to examine the opinions of the educators responsible for the mother tongue education on the effectiveness of the course of Turkish Language and Culture, which has been controversial recently in France. In this sense, it also seeks to reveal the problems in relation to the course and the suggestions for the elimination of such problems based on the teacher opinions. The sample of the study consisted of 13 teachers serving in the consulates general in the population. A major part of the participants stated that the course of Turkish Language and Culture is effective. The problems arising from the structure of the course of Turkish Language and Culture include that the courses start at late hours; the practices in the course are delivered in a multi-grade classroom; the age when the students start to attend the course is late; the duration of the courses is insufficient.
