Abstract

Utopian science fiction, a sub-category of science fiction, is interested in the imaginations about the positive changes in the future. The society of the future in these kind of text is based on scientific infrastructure. Hence, it is related to the genre of science fiction. The positive social structures in the future has been taken over utopian literature. These genres whose source are based on Western literature (a few century ago) reflect the humanity’s hopes about the future. Turkish literature has covered an important distance in science fiction inspite of its belatedness. When the first original literary works is scrutinized, it is seen that all of these texts refer to the future. The time zones when the Turkish and Muslim communities construct developed civilizations by means of science and technology is described in these texts. Çamlar Altında Musahabe II by Yahya Kemal deals with the same issue. The poet pictures a future which is away from any kind of problems in his text. Y. Kemal who travels to the future with a kind of time machine, narrates the technological structure for his readers. By doing this he reflects his some opinions related to various fields such as history and architecture, as well.
