Abstract

The increase in the consumption of renewable energy resources has been driven by new energy demand and environmental awareness. When the renewable energy consumption rates are taken into account, the countries using mainly these sources are take in place in Europe. Therefore, in this study the similarities and differences between the selected 31 European countries in terms of renewable energy consumption indicators have been tried to be revealed. For this purpose, multivariate statistical analysis techniques were compared using two dimensions of Multidimensional Scaling (MDS) analysis. The most up dated data was taken from year of 2015 and as being the variables in the analysis solar energy consumption, wind energy consumption, biomass energy consumption and other energy consumption are preferred. According to the analysis results, in terms of the considered variables; France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom have been identified as different from other countries. Especially in terms of renewable energy consumption, Germany is the country having the greatest difference in these countries.
