Abstract

The aim of this essay is to reveal the thoughts of Sartre on the concept of freedom and criticize these thoughts. Sartre sees freedom as a must that all people should have and accepts freedom as a structural feature of people with his saying "people are condemned to be free". Sartre claims people creates her/his own essence since they are free creatures, therefore she/he is responsible for his choices upon being sent to world. Sartre makes people are destined to freedom by claiming people are free and responsible. In this essay, the view of Sartre on freedom will be questioned; acceptability of this assertive idea on the fact that all people are free will be discussed.
