Abstract

The purpose of this study is to try to reveal the items related to the historical places in social studies textbooks. For this purpose, the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th class social studies textbooks were examined and the items related to the historical places were determined. The screening model was used in the study. The data were obtained by a document review method. The obtained data were analyzed by content analysis. According to the results of the study, it has been seen that social studies textbooks contain enough items about historical places. Besides this, a large majority of items are photographs. In addition, the items related to historical places were included in almost all learning areas. Only "Groups, Institutions and Social Organizations" were not included in the learning area. There are most items in the 7th grade for the distribution of items according to the classes and there are most items in the "Culture and Heritage" learning area for the distribution of items according to learning areas. In total there are 87 items.
