Abstract

In this study, male and female representations will be emphasized in a sample center from daytime broadcasts, one of the contents of television programs. In the context of the program analyzed as an example, the role of television programs in gender roles and reproduction of patriarchal order will be examined. Throughout our publishing history, dozens of television programs have been published and are continuing to be broadcast under the name of 'women's programs', whose target audience is female viewers and centers women. However, many of these publications, their content and their communication, have a negative impact on messages in terms of preventing gender inequality in society. In this study, an examination will be carried out in the context of male and female representations, for example, on the Fox TV Television channel 'En İyi Benim' daytime belt program. This program was chosen as a research theme for the role of women and men, as it involves the reproduction of gender inequality over a man whose four women entered into a fierce fight for him. The survey tested how the discourses in women's programs serve the continuation and consolidation of patriarchal order and that women and men represented in television programs are mostly covered by traditional gender roles. In the application part of the research, the analysis of content and discourse of the "En İyi Benim" program was conducted and it was researched how the gender roles are represented in this program and which situations are identified with women and men.
