Abstract

The main purpose of the study is to reveal whether there are any changes in elementary school 4th graders’ reading from screen comprehension levels of different texts, by the help of using foreknowledge that is instructed, prediction and eliciting, assigning purposes for reading and revising strategies. The study was employed in quasi-experimental model with pre-test – post-test control group. In this research, for the independent samples t-test and the repeated measures ANOVA test were used. For the analysis of the data SPSS program was employed. As a result of the survey, reading comprehension total success grade of experimental group students who were instructed pre-reading strategy was statistically higher than the grades’ of control group students who continued their lesson schedule. This result indicated that the application was effective. In addition to this, the reading comprehension on screen level of experimental group students who were instructed pre-reading strategy was found statistically higher than the comprehension level of control group students who continued their lesson schedule
