Abstract

Since ancient times, the attitude of Azerbaijani Turks to the woman was sublime. Calling the home country as motherland, Azerbaijani Turks believed that the woman is the same beloved and irreplaceable as the birthplace. The woman's honor for them was on a par with honor of the homeland. But under the influence of the Arab-Persian culture over time, attitudes towards woman have changed and a woman who was once on a par with the man remained under the pressure of a patriarchal society. In today's Azerbaijan women's participation in society is limited. Marriages at a young age under pressure of the family, abortion of girls in order to choose a baby's sex became spread phenomenon. The aim of the study is to identify the reasons of changes in the relation to the Azerbaijan woman. Based on the statistics of recent years will be examined in the article the issues of participation of Azerbaijani women in the public administration and in the private sector, their status in the modern society and the problems. In addition will be analyzed the data about the high level of abortions of girls in recent years, caused to the imbalance in the demographic structure of the population of Azerbaijan. This will drawn attention to the demographic and social consequences of the problem.
