Abstract

The Second Constitutionalist Period (1908-1918) is characterized by a point of time where political parties, communities and associations were established, the number of average people interested in politics increased, people equated their own fate with that of their country and thus mulled over the salvation of the state and took action. One of the associations of this period is the National Solidarity Association of the Ottoman Fleet. The Association was established on 19 July 1909 by means of people’s donations in order to provide support to the Ottoman Fleet. The range of activities that the Association organized to obtain donation included activities of theatre, movie and concert. A research carried out based on archival documents led to important conclusions. It was understood that the cultural activities of the Association were realized with the participation of all social classes ranging from non-moslem theater artists to amateur musicians and from high ranking bureaucrats t
