Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of burnout and job stress, which are among the most important and popular themes of working life in today’s world, on the healthcare professionals working in risky/specialty units at hospitals. The cases of burnout and stress might not only have a great influence on the working lives of employees but it can also affect family and social lives of employees. In order for the burnout and stress cases to be reduced, the administrators are required to take some radical measurements in working environments. Otherwise, there might be some decrease in not only the productivity of the healthcare professionals but also the performance of the organization. Within the scope of this study, the job stress and burnout levels of employees working in the specialty units (emergency service, surgery room, intensive care units etc.), in which both the work, itself and work load are generally regarded as risky, have been investigated.
