Abstract

The indictments are an important part of the legal texts. As in other legal texts, these texts also have their own linguistic characteristics. In the research framework, we have tried to show discursive features and functions of the indictments on two sample texts, “Ergenekon Indictment”, consisting of 2455 pages, and “Balyoz Indictment”, consisting of 1001 pages, which were obtained on the internet. The indictments have been written by prosecutor/s. The speech of the prosecutor is addressed to the court concerned. There is a "we", the person who submits the speeches (the speaker) and a "you" who is the receiver (judge/s). There is a situation of utterance (enunciator - receiver). In this research, we try to seek answers to such questions as what the position of the speaker is, what kind of relationship there is between the speakers and enunciator, how the relationship is between utterance and the receiver. The aim of the research is to show the discursive features of these texts a
