This disputable topic will be reviewed in this article from the perspective of famous exegete al-Razi. In addition, this artilce will compare critically his appraoch with his contemporaries and other scholars. By doing this the article aims at identifying the criticism carried out by modern scholarship. In brief, this article will re-evaluate the perception of women by Muslim exegetecial tradition objectively and analytically. Razi's subjective interpretation of the verses will be analysed on the basis of his approaches to the topics such as woman's witnessing, inheritance, the status of man over woman as a qawwam. At the end this article will shed light on the socio-cultural background of the commentator.
