Abstract

The orientation of the artists of Tanzimat period and the wishes to establish the Turkish poetry encourage them to destroye to ottoman however, they could only destroye the Divan poetry nor were unable to put forward a thisjointed poetry from the ottoman poem becasue of the strong foundations eastern culture based on Divan poetry. The reason because Ottoman literature of poetry is mainly due to a literary genre, it has focused on the poetry of old-new debate. It is possible to see these debates durinf Tanzimat period republic period and even after republic period. Despite all this discussion, we can observe the effects of Divan poetry on modern poetry in terms of form and content is reflected in, even until today. In other words, the two major arms of the Turkish literature and folk poetry Ottoman tradition, constitute the main source of modern poets.
