Abstract

Turkey had become one of the world’s most important espionage centers during the Second World War. During the war British, German, American and Russian agents had sought to provide their countries with advantages through various conspiracies. Turkey, while indulging the activities of Allies took severe measures against the activities of Axis powers. However, it was extremely cautious about Russian activities and took preventive actions. It even condoned the German’s weakening the Russians by setting up a radio and supply base on the Russian border. Istanbul had become an important center for all the intelligence agencies. It attracted the attention of great powers due to its proximity to Eastern provinces, Russia and Middle East countries.
