Abstract

Textile and clothing sector is one of the oldest industries in the world. This sector has played an important role in the economic growth and development of countries. The aim of this study is to analyze comparative advantage in the textile and clothing sector for India and Pakistan over the period 2000-2014. We were used Revealed Comparative Advantage Index, Revealed Symmetric Comparative Advantage Index and Trade Balance Index. Also, we created the product mapping of the textile and clothing sector which are analyzed in this study. Revealed Comparative Advantage Index results showed that India had a comparative advantage in SITC 651, SITC 652, SITC 653, SITC 654, SITC 656, SITC 658, SITC 659, SITC 841, SITC 842, SITC 843, SITC 844, SITC 845, SITC 846 coded sectors for the period 2000-2014 period.
