Abstract

Turkish language which has a history starting from 4000 BC is an important language with over 200 million speakers today. Turkish language which has been taught as native language for many years, is also taught as a foreign language both in Turkey and also in different countries by several institutions and private language centers. The leading Turkish teaching centers in Turkey are those which were founded in universities. Since the foundation of first Turkish teaching center in Ankara University, almost every university have founded Turkish center in 32 years. Even though this remarkable situation signifies how Turkish language teaching progressed, the teaching progress in 84 different active Turkish centers are different from each other. The fact that the course duration, proficiency exam, language level tests, course exams and also teaching materials significantly differ from each other, bring serious problems to Turkish language teaching and it prevents the standardization in terms
