THE REASONS WHY TEACHERS DO NOT AFFILIATE to UNIONS and THEIR EXPECTATIONS FROM THEM ÖĞRETMENLERİN SENDİKALARA ÜYE OLMAMA NEDENLERİ ve SENDİKALARDAN BEKLENTİLERİ
The purpose of the present study was explore why teachers do not affiliate to education unions and their expectations from them based on teachers’ views. This research is significant in that it can stimulate teachers to be affiliated with education unions and specify the barriers behind teachers’ unionization. Case study research design was used in the study. The sample of the study consisted of 20 teachers working at primary and middle schools located in Birecik district of Şanlıurfa province and Nizip district of Gaziantep province in the academic year of 2013-2014. The participants were selected via criterion-based sampling. Data were gathered via interviews.
