Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate retail innovation and its implementations which have been implemented all over the world in recent years. In the study, firstly the evolution and development of retail industry in Turkey was explained, and then the innovative implementations in retail industry were examined. To explain the history of retail industry in Turkey enables to make a comparison between the past and present of the industry. Secondary data was searched by using literature review technique which is a qualitative research methods. In this context, the innovative activities which were seen in the retail industry all over the world until January, 2016 were included to the study. Giving importance to information and communication technologies, focusing customer needs and wants outside the store when serving innovations such as in-store interactive experiences and customization, and so enhancing customer shopping experience were advised to the retailers in the study.
