Abstract

This article offers a description of international migration principles in the era of globalization, with the focus on Ukraine and Turkey. Relations between two countries had been defined by the long chronology of historical, geographic, and cultural contact and has been influenced by newly established social networks between the regions, its political and economic development. Based on the analysis of international migration principles it was found that main features of migration between Ukraine and Turkey are short-term, irregular, female character and the prevalent types of migration take form of either circular trading or transnational marriages. As an initial attempt to map out Ukrainian migration in Turkey, the most crucial outcome of this paper is to question those categories that we are used to defıne and study international migration.
