Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate middle-school teachers’ views about values of their students acquire and development processes of those values. The study was carried out with 10 subject specialist teachers who work in a middle-school in Giresun city in Turkey. The data was collected through carrying out face to face interviews with participant teachers. Due to nature of research, case study method was utilized and obtained qualitative data was analyzed within the qualitative data analysis framework. Results of the study shows that according to teachers’ views students do not acquire values at sufficient and desired level and families, social environment and media have negative influences on values education of students. According to findings, participant teachers state that values education in schools is carried out covertly and different educational models and approaches are not utilized as desired.
