Abstract

Turkish World covering a wide geography from Chinese Wall till Adriatic Sea encompasses a wide area told in Oghuz Khan Epic. Even though national culture, which is our common heritage, isn’t under the same flag today, it reveals itself in an event or told tale, epic, song lullaby or folk song. These genres addressed within Folk Literature have their own features and details. The subject to be dealt in our study is about tales, which are ones of the most important outputs of folk literature. Tales including national values incorporated, customs and traditions, life style of society and geographical affairs of area, despite of giving universal message, are the leading works forging a link between past and future. The genre tale can be defined so: Common cultural treasures, in which extraordinary events experienced by a protagonist are told, which aim advising somebody, who read and listened to it, serve as a bridge between past and future.
