Abstract

Fundamental aim of this research is to reveal how children who mostly spend their time in front of the television as youngest members of the family are affected by cartoons. Accordingly, some series of Flintstones and Jetsons cartoons which were then broadcast in several countries around the world are determined by using sampling technics. The data are gathered from designated series of these given cartoons via implementing document analysis as a qualitative research technic. First of all, data acquired from given documents are examined within the scope of content analysis and discourse analysis. Secondly, data obtained from these documents are turned into findings by synthetizing with the theories of Faucoult, McLuhan and Frankfurt School. Briefly, one of the most significant findings relates with that mass culture is more effective than electronic age and its devices on especially children’s exposure to television.
