Abstract

Namık Kemal, presenting the first examples of Turkish Literature by his works, defines not only novel but also theatre as “the most beneficial amusement”. He aim seducating the society by his works. When he was abroad, he had many experiences and he created his pieces thanks to these experiences. He has totaly six theatres and two novels and he talks about “love” theme in his works with national-romantic point of view. All of his works contains “love” theme. This theme is talked about in all ways in his works. Death, committing suicide, cheating, falling apart, retriving, not be equaling to each other as different forms of love are possibly seen in Namık Kemal’s works, also, patriotism is ahead of love. One of the most important Reforms Era writers and patriotic poet Namık Kemal’s novels and theatres’ general aspects and love and patriotism themes in his works constitute this study’s main question.
