Abstract

Foreign direct investment inflows are a major source for developing countries such as Turkey. Many countries develop and adopt strategies for encouraging foreign direct investment inflows to stimulate their economic growth. With the acceleration of the globalization process, both developed countries and countries without sufficient national savings to finance and spur investments try to attract foreign direct investments. Foreign direct investment inflows do not only make a significant contribution to domestic capital but also bring in a lot of advantages such as technology, new employment opportunities, national income increase, new manufacturing opportunities and broad exposure to foreign markets and accordingly foreign direct investment is considered to play a very significant role in economic development.
