Abstract

Karacahisar Castle is located in 7 km. southwest from Eskişehir City Center and nearby Porsuk River. Castle is build in 200x300 m. dimensions and on a plateau which is nearly 1010 m. higher from sea level. Only one portal from east allows entrance to castle. There is no clear information about the previous name and the construction date of the castle. According to Ottoman Chronicles castle was captured by Osman Ghazi in 1288. Karacahisar Castle was often mentioned in Ottoman Chronicles, thus one can suggest that castle is really important for early Ottoman history. Scientific researches at castle started in 1999. In this article, it is aimed to make a clear suggestion about the change and transformation of Karacahisar Castle based upon the foundings from 2011-2014 excavation seasons.
