Abstract

The aim of the current study was to comparatively investigate Bloom’s Taxonomy of the Cognitive domain which has been commonly used for more than 50 years in education and the new taxonomy that was revised in 1995-2000 under the leadership of Anderson and Krathwohl and to reveal formal differences of the revised taxonomy. The descriptive research method that is one of the qualitative research methods was used in the present study. In terms of research problems, following results were obtained by literature review. 1- According to Bloom’s original taxonomy of the cognitive domain, there are six major categories of learning, thinking, and cognitive processes. Similarly, revised taxonomy includes six major categories but these categories were updated and tried to be more useful. 2- The revised taxonomy shows how knowledge is associated with knowledge in conceptual, procedural, and metacognitive levels. 3- To the revised taxonomy, the metacognition was added.
