Abstract

The use of videos and movies in teaching foreign languages has become very common in recent years. Teaching foreign languages is not limited to finding an equivalence with the native language, but to find out the how to use the sentence in the correct context with the correct words. This can be achieved through movies. Movies are one of the best audio-visual materials for teaching both main language skills and real world contexts and culture. Movies are very popular in teaching the most commonly taught languages, such as, English, German, and French, while on the other hand, studies in teaching Turkish through movies are limited. In this study, the film, White Angel has been chosen because it contains cultural elements and its language is clear. This film is the basis for authentic activities developed to teach four main language skills, to develop intercultural competence, and to dramatize cultural norms to B1 level foreign students learning Turkish.
