Abstract

Firstly, tourism has the slowing impact on the cities under negative effect of it because mass tourism may have high profit but, on the other hand, it could lessen the life standards of the local people. Foundations of "Cittaslow" which means slow town, movement was taken by the mayors of the Chianti, Orvieto, Bra and Positano leaded “Slow Food" movement in the town of Orvieto, Italy in 1999. While Slow Food achieving success in the international arena with regard to quality of taste and foodstuffs, cittaslow expanded the basic values of the current in many different areas further by establishing an institutional network. Cities wishing to set these values brought the specified criterias and rules for exchange of experience between members by establishing the Union of international Cittáslow Association. In this study, it is about how the Cittaslow movement developed in Turkey and what the possible consequences may arise from it.
