Abstract

The aim of this study is to make a research for the problems of local radio broadcasting in Turkey. In the study there is a conceptual research about local media and local radio history. In the research part of the study 109 local radio stations’ web sites were analyzed and the existence of local radios in internet on going to global from local was detected. There has been a qualitative research about how the local radio stations use internet. In the research there has been interviews with the managers of the local radio stations and asked the most important problems they faced as local radio companies. In the end of the search there has been found that local radio stations have many problems all coming from their economic status. There has been a determination that local radios do not enough convergence with new media.
