Abstract

This research has been conducted to find the expectations of 21 undergraduate students, who study Geography Teaching Department in one of the universities in İstanbul, about course books and class notes. To that end, a survey form which includes open-ended questions prepared by experts has been applied on the participants. With this survey, it was established that students expect course books to be detailed and comprehensible, to give general and basic information, to include examples from Turkey and the world and to have visual and current information. The data accumulated with this survey has been assessed by descriptive analysis. So, it has been established that the participants found course books more successful than class notes and they object to class notes dictated by lecturers. The findings have been concluded after being interpreted and some suggestions have been put forward about the issue.
