Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the opinions of primary school mathematics education students about mathematics teachers at schools where they attend internship within the scope of school experience course. In this study, a case study which is one of the qualitative research methods has been adopted. In this study, the data were collected through a semi-structured interview form. Five open-ended questions were asked to 61candidate teachers who participated in the study and their opinions on the answers given to these questions were received in writing. The opinions obtained in the study were gathered around two themes: Professional Knowledge and Skill and Attitude and Values. After analyzing the opinions in these themes, they were grouped into sub-themes and presented as a table. As a result of the study, the candidate teachers expressed their positive or negative thoughts on sub-themes such as methods and techniques, instructional technologies, classroom management, communication, discipline, tolerant, role-model, frustrated and fairness. According to the results of the research, most of the teacher candidates stated that teachers with whom they did internship generally comply with the general competencies of the teaching profession and may be role-models for them.
