FOX TV’DE 24 HAZİRAN 2018 TARİHİNDE YAYINLANAN SEÇİM PROGRAMININ “OFF THE RECORD” İLKESİNİN İHLÂLİ BAĞLAMINDA İNCELENMESİ

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, 24 Haziran 2018 tarihinde Fox TV’de yayınlanan seçim programında, Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi’nin (CHP) Cumhurbaşkanı adayı Muharrem İnce’nin, program sunucularından gazeteci İsmail Küçükkaya’nın cep telefonuna Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi (AK Parti) adayı Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’ı kast ederek gönderdiği “adam kazandı” mesajının Küçükkaya tarafından canlı yayında okunmasının “off the record” ilkesi bakımından etik problem teşkil edip etmediği hususu ele alınmıştır. Bakış açısı olarak ise, John Stuart Mill tarafından geliştirilen Yararcılık öğretisi kabul edilmiştir. Örnek olay farklı değişkenler ışığında incelenmiş olup, söz konusu yayının kamu için büyük önem arz etmesi, kamu yararına hizmet etmesi, haber kaynağı tarafından gönderilen mesaja “off the record” kaydı düşülmemiş olması ve izleyicilerin programdan temel beklentisinin seçim sonuçlarını öğrenmek olması gibi hususlar göz önünde bulundurulduğunda, programda herhangi bir etik ihlâle rastlanmamıştır.

Abstract

In this study, an incident in the election program, broadcasted on Fox Tv on 24th June 2018 analyzed in the context of violation “off the record” ethical principle according to the theory of John Stuart Mill’s Utilitarianism. In the program, presidential candidate of the Republican People's Party Muharrem Ince sent a phone message as “he won” to Ismail Kucukkaya –anchorman of the program- and intended the Justice and Development Party’s candidate Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s victory. Right after, Ismail Kucukkaya read this message on-air. Case study has been evaluated in the context of different variables by also election results are very important to society hence the program aimed to public benefit as well the message sent by the news source to Ismail Kucukkaya did not contain any warning about “off the record” and the basic expectation of the audience from the program to learn election results, considering all of these no ethical violations have been found in the program.
