Abstract
Bu araştırmanın amacı gazetelerin spor sayfalarında yer alan futbol haberlerinde kullanılan metaforları çeşitli kriterlere göre belirlemektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda en fazla tiraja sahip beş gazete içerisinden amaçlı örnekleme yöntemiyle Hürriyet ve Sabah gazeteleri belirlenmiştir. Belirlenen gazetelerin spor sayfalarında yer alan futbol haberlerinin metinlerine oluşturulan kodlama cetveli doğrultusunda içerik analizi uygulanmıştır. Analizlerin geçerliliğinin sağlaması için literatürde önerilen kodlayıcılar arası güvenirlilik katsayısı hesaplanmıştır. Yapılan analizler neticesinde toplam 222 adet metafor kullanıldığı tespit edilmiştir. Tespit edilen metaforların büyük bir bölümü takımların simgeleri ve şiddet unsuru içeren metaforlar olduğu ortaya konulmuştur. Bunun yanında metafor içeren haberlerin önemli bir bölümü gazetelerin en dikkat çekici noktalarına konumlandırıldığı tespit edilmiştir.

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to determine the metaphors which was used in football news in sports pages. According to this purpose the five newspapers which have the highest circulation was chosen by purposive sampling method. These newspaper’s football news were content analyzed. To validate the analyzes intercoders reliability ratio was calculated. After analysis 222 methaphors was found. Most of these methaphors were about team symbols and violence related. Besides this, it was found that these metaphors were used in the most attractive parts of the newspapers.
