Abstract
Ele aldığı metne tarafsız bir şekilde yaklaşan Berna Moran, metnin gerektirdiği eleştiri yöntemlerini kullanmış, tek bir eleştiri yöntemine bağlı kalmamıştır. Bunun sonucunda yöntem açısından zengin ve çok yönlü bir eleştiri ortaya çıkmıştır. Berna Moran, eleştirilerinde metin içi öğelerle birlikte metin dışı öğelere de yer vermiş; ele aldığı romanların yazıldığı dönemlerin toplumsal, ekonomik ve siyasi durumlarını da göz önünde bulundurmuştur. Eleştirilerinde ayrıca sosyolojik eleştirinin verilerine ve inceleme yöntemlerine başvurmuştur. Sosyolojik eleştiri, pozitivizmin gelişmesi sonucunda bilimsel yaklaşımın geliştiği ve bu gelişmenin tarih ve edebiyat gibi sosyal alanlara yaklaşımı da etkilediği bir dönem olan 18. yüzyılda ortaya çıkmıştır. Sosyolojik eleştiride ele alınan metin, sosyolojik verilerden de yararlanılarak ve nedensellik ilkesi gözetilerek, toplumsal gerçekliklerle de ilişkilendirilerek ele alınmıştır. Sosyolojik eleştiri; Berna Moran’ın eleştiri çalışmalarında kullandığı eleştiri yöntemleri arasında önemli bir yere sahip olmuştur. Bu çalışmada Berna Moran’ın eleştiri çalışmaları ve bu çalışmalarda sosyolojik eleştirinin yeri üzerinde durulmuştur.

Abstract
Berna Moran who approaches to the texts she has dealt with, fair and square, has used the necessary criticism methods and has never stayed connected to just one method. As consequence of this, a sophisticated and method-rich criticism has come to light. Berna Moran has used nontextual elements as well as intratextual elements and has taken social, economic and political statutes of the novel time into consideration. She also has referred to data and evaluation methods of sociological criticism. Sociological criticism which has been created in the 18th century in which scientific approach has been developed into an approach to social areas like history and literature as a consequence of positivism development. The text that has been dealt with in sociological criticism, has been discussed by benefitting sociological data, pursuing causality principle and associating with social reality. The sociological criticism has an important place among the criticism methods that has been used her criticism studies. In this study, criticism studies of Berna Moran and the place of sociological criticism in these studies have been dwelled on.
