VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS’ METAPHORS REGARDING INFLATION AND UNEMPLOYMENT MESLEK YÜKSEKOKULU ÖĞRENCİLERİNİN ENFLASYON VE İŞSİZLİĞE İLİŞKİN METAFORLARI
For all countries the two most prominent economical issues are inflation and unemployment. All people, through their lives may have to face with these issues. Although these two issues may sometimes have very destructive effects, it adjoins dynamism to economy if it stays under a specific level. In this qualitative research study, phenomenological design, one of the qualitative research designs, has been used. In this study where students’ thoughts were determined on inflation and unemployment through metaphors, 43 metaphors related to inflation and 44 valid metaphors related to unemployment were created by the students. The metaphors which students created regarding inflation can be grouped under economy, living being, object, natural phenomen on and sentiment categories. The created metaphors regarding unemployment can be grouped under economy, object, natural phenomenon and sentiment categories. The metaphors which the students developed with reference to inflation and unemployment indicate that it is a socio-political and a psychological issue rather than being an economical one.
