Abstract

In this study, couplets about the meeting of the lover with his beloved are mentioned in love poems which is one of the basic elements of classical Turkish poetry. In the context of both metaphorical love and true love, it is known that the lover cannot meet his beloved, in other words, the vuslat is not realized within the traditional structure of divan poetry which reigned in Turkish literature between 13th and 19th centuries. However, in divan poetry, there are some couplets that we have determined that many poets rarely go beyond this traditional view of vuslat. In this context, the aim of this study is to identify and evaluate these couplets. In our study, many divans of different centuries were examined and the couplets which were stated to come together of lover to beloved in these divans were identified and evaluated. Considering the large number of works and volumes of works given in classical Turkish poetry, it has been focused on divans in general and especially ghazals. As a result, in this study, many couplets that coming together in love with beloved have been identified in classical Turkish poetry. In this context, it has been revealed that poet and his representative in poetry of going beyond the traditional structure of divan poetry about vuslat.
